The twitter is exploited by the phishers, scammers and spammers. In the earlier time when the concept of phishing was started the twitters only noticed it. Twitter has also published certain things that should be taken care to avoid falling in the phishing activity. Twitter phishing is defined as the attack of the sending mails to twitter account asking for personal information such as credit card number, account number, etc. There are two important terms that need to be known.

Phishing is defined as the activity of stealing one’s account through the fraudulent acts. The main aim is to know the personal information of the people and hack their account. The phishing starts with a mail or a telephone call telling that they are calling from a particular bank and they wish to know the security code or other personal information of the credit card user.

This modern world is full of internet applications and they have lots of advantages and disadvantages associated with them. Phishing is a form of fraudulent activity in which the thieves get to know your personal security details through internet and use that to get money or use your money. This fraud may take place in the phone or through e – mail. Though the internet security has increased nowadays, it is an acceptable fact that there are a number of cyber crimes that make the innocent people to lose money.

Online phishing is an online sinister activity. The same is also a criminal and punishable offence. In the united stated an Anti Phishing act was introduced in 2005. The act would have provisions for the Federal prosecutors to be fined up to $250,000. It would also have provisions for imprisonment of the accused up to 5yrs.  These were the efforts by the federal government to prevent phishing.

In the modern days, some very common words that we come across are phishing attacks, credit card phishing, email fraud, online scams, identity theft online etc.

What are they?

These firstly are criminal activities, and they are categorized under cyber crime. They happen over the internet, and so are categorized under the cyber crimes. What happens is that critical details of people are stolen and used to make some financial transaction or with the simple motive to steal money from the victim’s account.
