Efforts to prevent phishing
Online phishing is an online sinister activity. The same is also a criminal and punishable offence. In the united stated an Anti Phishing act was introduced in 2005. The act would have provisions for the Federal prosecutors to be fined up to $250,000. It would also have provisions for imprisonment of the accused up to 5yrs. These were the efforts by the federal government to prevent phishing.

The IRS has issued a warning for the general public because of the increasing incidents of the phishing identity thefts. The warning is against using the IRS name or logo or both, by the scamsters to gain information and access to the secrets of people and their assets.
IRS notified people that they would never demand for personal information of people such as their user ids’, passwords, credit card details etc.
